Noteble Lyrics

The tears you cry fall from the sky

You never did explain

Why I'm still blowing through you

Like a hurricane
-The Fame
Be Here Now 1997 B-side
All Around the World

One of my favorites lyrics. I love way Noel sings it, very accusatory. I could never figure out if he is sing  from his point of view or is he singing  as "The Fame", the lyrics seem to go back  and forth.

Be a Beady Noel

A long time ago (err 15 years!) when I first discovered Oasis, I would go back and forth in my favorite Gallagher brother, as any crazy obsessed teenager would . First I loved Noel, he was (in my 15 year old brain) "the quiet one" sensitive, and had a voice to break your heart, plus who doesn't fall for deep songwriter types? I would dream about him personally giving me a concert with just his acoustic guitar and his lovely accent. Then the next week (yes it would literally be THE NEXT WEEK) I would be in love with the hot lead singer, his rock n roll antics, soul melting rip roaring voice, and his oh so beautiful blue eyes...who wouldn't fall for a lead singer??

As I grew older, more obsessed and learned more about them, I grew into a Gallagher brothers lover. Noel could make me just crazy as Liam. I loved them together, I love the interaction, the hilarity, hated when they fought, and most of all loved everything about the music the made together. I still feel the same, though I still vary back and forth now and then. At this point and I say this in the most non-crazy way, the Gallaghers are like family, I love them, will never stop loving them, but sometimes they do things I don't agree with, like Noel being grumpy or Liam saying ridiculous things.

It seems to me, in my humble opinion since Oasis broke up, fans have draw lines, stepped on either sides, and started to fiercely reject the other. Some of it is fans showing their true colors, i.e. they always disliked Liam, and just put up with him and now the break up gives them an excuse to be horrible to Beady Eye and its fans. It works the other way as well a lot of Liam fans see Beady Eye has a good ole poke in the ribs to Noel, and do not respect the brilliant songwriter we all know he is. Some of it is fans thinking they have choose sides. It’s all very sad and unproductive.

The Gallaghers were Oasis. The magic they had together will NEVER be produced again solo (or in a band). It’s a repeating story in rock n roll, Lennon & McCartney, Plant & Page, Jaggar & Richards, etc. all were never as good solo as they were together. It’s a debate, but most will agree...nothing will ever sound as good as Liam singing one of Noel's songs, Noel's voice hovering just above Liam's in backing vocals. The sheer force, drive, whatever you call it of Oasis, cannot be reproduced without both Gallaghers on stage. Why deny it? Why take sides? If you loved Oasis truly, you can't take sides and if you’re smart you’ll try enjoy both sides.

Beady Eye is awesome, the way Liam just took the reins and went for it is awe inspiring...I mean this is the man that claimed he forgot about the American Tour in 1996. In that "Oasis-feels-like-my-family" way I am proud to have been a fan of this man's for so long. Noel's solo journey I am sure will seem just as awesome to me as Beady Eye's, sure he is taking his time, but who didn't think he wouldn't?

Both Noel and Beady Eye should not be judged against that Oasis Gallagher magic, but on a "new band" status...judge them against the rest of music today, not each other. In ending you can and really should be fans of both brothers and their endeavors (that is of course you actually like the music!). Be a Beady Noel Fan for now and maybe one day we'll get that Gallagher Magic back.

Four Letter Word Covers

In my daily viewing of Four Letter Word (yea I like the song...A LOT ) I found two really cool FLW covers by fans.  The second one is my fave...

By The Looking Glass

Not sure about the guys voice, but its great. Maybe a acoustic Beady Eye version is in the future?

A Four Letter Word Break Down

I have been thinking a lot about the lyrics to FLW,  and seriously do not buy into the idea that is is a vicious attack on Noel. I believe that the four letter word is NOEL...not well the "C word" as some fans suspect. The song's lyrics seemed to me as a "Come on Noel"...based in concerned not hatred... Here is my break down:

Sleepwalk away the life
If that turns you on

This is a obvious shot at Noel's  idleness.. Noel has said he likes doing nothing

It’s only a moment
Look away and it’s gone

A bit of a warning from Liam...sure you can be idle but your life is going to pass you by.

It’s about time
That your mind took a holiday
I feel like this is where the concern comes in, like Liam is saying "Alright you have been working  damn hard (songwriting) for this band for 18 years you need a break".

You’re all grown up
Don’t you ever wanna play
?
I take two ways.. Liam is defending his own behavior sort of like saying "Come don't you ever just want to have fun?" The second way is saying to Noel "relax a bit!"

You’ve had enough
Staring out of dead end eyes
Basically you have had enough of Oasis. Staring into nothing on stage. Even Liam knew it was getting old.

It’s gonna be tough
The battle’s on and your soul is the prize
I am not really sure about this lyric.  Maybe the battle between Liam and Noel...see who does this non Oasis thing better?

I don’t know what it is I’m feeling
A four letter word really gets my meaning
This song is not about LOVE, as I previously thought.  Many have thought Noel... could it be "NOEL really gets my meaning" . Is Liam saying that maybe he and Noel really get what is going on, and though they are feuding, maybe they both knew it had to end.

Nothing ever lasts forever
Oasis didn't last forever, 'nuff said.

Get on your feeling
Going out of your mind
A thought on Noel's going solo talks before Oasis broke up?

The wheel needs to roll
The clock on the wall says it’s time
Again about Noel's idleness, Liam was always raring to go.

Call it love
Call it whatever you please
It’s not what you want
It be might just what you need
This is the verse that throws the whole Noel theory off. Anyone have any input on what this means?

You’ve had enough
Noel had a enough, its very clear.

It feels like you’ve blown
A 50amp fuse
It was a shock to Liam, I have  a feeling this is about a actual event in the band, and Liam is using it as a metaphor .  It wouldn't surprise me if Noel had blown a 50amp fuse in the past and it effected Liam in some way.

It’s gonna be tough
The more you have
The more you can loose
Noel had the most cash in the band. The most rights, the most everything, I believe this lyric refers to that.

So in ending  this song more than anything refers to Noel and like I said  I don't believe its done in hateful...more like a "HEY NOEL! I'm still here and I am still going!". It could be about something else entirely.. I am anxious to hear what Liam will say! What does everyone think?

PS. Doesn't that GIF make you sad? I hope one day they can be brothers again :(
